Spotlight on Christine Espersen
Marketing Associate/Operations Liaison

7/10/02

Christine Espersen, Client Services & Marketing Associate and Operations Liaison, began her tenure at Oakwood as Receptionist and has flourished with our firm. Shortly after starting her employment with Oakwood Christine demonstrated that she possessed a large measure of intellect and desire to learn. Soon, she was assisting the operations department with everything from reconciliations and account openings to trade clearance.

When Christine was promoted to Marketing Associate last year she split her time between operations and marketing. She is now a competent Client Services representative and works both for Director of Marketing and Client Service, Tom Doxey, and President and CEO, Bruce Mandel. In this role she peforms a myriad of tasks as part of the marketing and client services team including client service, client reviews, prospect proposals and mailings. Bruce Mandel says: “Christine has grown up with this company. She is ambitious and has the unique opportunity to learn and excel in different aspects of our business.”

Christine is a tremendous resource. Her operations and accounting system knowledge have been valuable to newer members of the staff while they also allow her to back up both operations and administration. Oakwood clients rely on Christine’s expanding store of knowledge as she routinely meets their various requests. She has been known to “execute” a hundred trades, arrange for a line of credit for a client and fix a jammed copier in the same hour!

No stranger to hard work, Christine worked her way through the University of Southern California doing office work and was also a security officer, that is, a “campus cop.” Since she also assists high schools in running their wrestling tournaments we’re fairly sure no one messes with Christine. While at USC, she majored in Kinesiology, minored in Spanish and was a Dean’s Scholar. Christine graduated in 2001 as a USC Ambassador, that is, a leader of her class, and was on the Dean’s List for five semesters.

Last year was busy for Christine. Not only did she graduate from college but she and husband, Alex, were also married in July. At present, she leads a youth group at her parish and still directs those high school wrestling tournaments. In fact, her team has just become LA City Schools champions for two years in a row. Christine is flashing the championship ring almost as often as her wedding ring.

Christine brings energy and efficiency as well as knowledge to her position at Oakwood. No matter how he prizes those characteristics, however, Tom Doxey says: “Sometimes I think she gets things done by feeding people. I really look forward to Oakwood’s potluck lunches when we always induce Christine to bring her enchiladas!”
